Happy Labor Day Weekend!
If your nose is down to the grindstone rough
And you hold it down there long enough
Soon you will say there's no such thing
As brooks that babble and birds that sing
Three things will be all your world compose
Just you, the grindstone, and your darned old nose
I hope that if you're not already, you are about to look up from the grindstone and have some fun over this holiday weekend. This is a holiday that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers. Labor Day is a day to pay tribute to the contributions and achievements of American workers. So take time to acknowledge all that you, and those around you do. Reflect on and be proud of the contributions we're all making, in our own way, every day. Thank and appreciate those that make your life better through the work they do.
As I mentioned in the Women Warriors radio interview this week, next week I'll be kicking of a new blog series where we'll tackle different areas of our lives to clear out some of the things that are zapping our energy, and get us off on the right foot this fall. We all return back to more of a routine. Things slow a bit, and calm down from all the summer travel and activities. So together, we'll take back a bit of our time and energy by making space for the things we want more of this fall with focus, purpose and intention. And I'll also be offering special "back-to-school" coaching packages starting next week. You're busy, but managing You, Inc. is incredibly important to your success. I hope you'll take advantage of this special offer that will allow you to quickly and effectively create your own "school of life" schedule and curriculum that is your business plan for growing and keeping You, Inc. competitive, successful and happy.
We only have four months left in 2012, is that possible?! What do you want to be celebrating on December 31, 2012 as you're ringing in 2013? Do you have a plan to make it happen? Do you have the support you need? Is your environment one that supports you? And how are you setting yourself up for even greater things in 2013, and beyond? Do you have a clear, huge vision that may scare you a bit, but excites you and makes you want to jump out of bed? I'm answering these questions and others for myself right now too.
Yesterday I was talking to a dear friend, former manager/colleague, mentor, and just quite honestly someone I aspire to be more like. His vision for his life is so huge and inspiring. He made me realize I've got some work to do on my own vision! We have a tendency to want to play out life safe, and small. That less than helpful, "Who do you think you are?!", voice creeps in. And we tend to carry around unquestioned, self-imposed limits for ourselves and our lives. But I ask you (and me)....Why? Why not you? Says who? I believe that if we are doing work we love and care about, having fun along the way, and yes blood, sweat and tears are often required, then we're making contributions that we were put here to make. You are making a difference. We have achieved, and are capable of even more, great things. My friend reminded me yet again of all that is possible when we're living by and letting our light shine. And by letting his light shine, he continues to light the way for me (and I know for many others).
So Happy Labor Day!! I truly appreciate all of you amazing people I've gotten to work with and learn from over the years. Thank you to all of you for all that you do!
I wish you much happiness, health & success!
